Colombia — Supremo

Origin: Various Regions (Huila, Tolima, Nariño)

Profile: Rich, Velvety, and Sophisticated

Colombia Supremo represents the highest grade of Colombian coffee based on bean size. Screened at 17/18, these are the largest, most visually impressive beans harvested from the trees. Because of their size and the high-altitude volcanic soil in which they are grown, Supremo beans develop a complex density that translates into a luxurious, full-bodied experience in the cup.

Like the Excelso, the Supremo is Washed (Wet-Processed), but its larger size often results in a slightly deeper, more chocolatey profile with a more pronounced presence on the palate.

Flavour Experience

  • Body: Full and velvety; notably richer than the Excelso.

  • Notes: Elegant notes of dark cocoa, toasted pecans, and stone fruit (like plum or cherry).

  • Acidity: Medium-bright and wine-like—refined rather than sharp.

  • Finish: Smooth and incredibly sweet, with a hint of vanilla bean.

Best Enjoyed As

This is a “statement” coffee. Its size and quality make it ideal for:

  • Single-Origin Retail: A premium offering for customers who want the gold standard of Colombian coffee.

  • French Press: The immersion brewing method brings out the heavy oils and rich sweetness of the larger beans.

  • Medium-Dark Roasts: The Supremo’s density allows it to hold up beautifully under heat, developing deep caramelized sugars without losing its fruit character.
